Tony R. Taft
Tony represents clients in civil trial matters including personal injury, wrongful death, 18-wheeler/trucking cases, product liability and business litigation.  He has extensive experience in successfully handling medical malpractice and employment cases involving wrongful or retaliatory discharge.
Prior to founding The Taft Law Firm, Tony was a trial attorney at Thompson & Knight, LLP, one of Texas’ oldest and largest full service international law firms. There, Tony handled a wide range of medical malpractice and business litigation cases. Tony opened The Taft Law Firm with the aim of bringing his “Big Firm” experience to a focused trial team dedicated to the individual needs of clients.
Respected for tenacious and tactical resolution of cases to his clients’ benefit, from 2004-2005 and 2007-2011 Tony was consistently named among Texas Rising Stars in Litigation by his peers in the legal profession through surveys conducted by Thomson Reuters and printed in Texas Monthly Magazine (an honor going to only the top 2.5% of Texas attorneys under the age of 40).  From 2012-2020, Tony R. Taft has been designated a Texas Super Lawyer in the realm of Litigation through the Thomson Reuters survey.
Tony is licensed and admitted to practice before Texas State courts, the United States Federal District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Tony received his Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law in 1998.  As a member of South Texas College of Law's award winning appellate advocacy program, Tony received multiple awards ranking him among the top advocates in the State of Texas and across the nation.  In 1998, he received the Dean's Outstanding Advocate Award and was selected as a National Member of the Order of the Barristers - for having exhibited excellence and attained high honors through the art of courtroom advocacy. Tony has worked to help students at South Texas College of Law continue those winning traditions and to develop their skills as advocates by coaching and mentoring advocacy teams at the law school.
Tony is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Business Management. He is married to Genea M. Taft, and together they enjoy the thrill of keeping up with active and inquisitive sons, Gordon and Grant.
